How does the upload work?
We are very happy that you have decided to upload your materials to eduki! To upload your material, you first need to be logged in with your account. When you click on ‘Share material’, two options will be displayed. Click on ‘Create material’ on the far left.
Upload your files
Once you have clicked on Create material, a window will appear asking you to upload one or more files. During the entire upload process, you will always find short explanations on the far right of the page.
What file formats and amounts of data can I upload?
As we all use different operating systems and software, we recommend that you offer your material in such a way that it can be used by as many of your colleagues as possible. In our experience, PDF files are therefore very suitable, as they can be opened on most devices without any problems and are easy to use. If you would like to offer your material in an editable file format, we recommend that you also use common file formats, e.g. from word processing or presentation programmes (e.g. docx/pages files or pptx/key files).
The following applies to the amount of data: the smaller the file, the faster your material can be uploaded. If your file is very large, send it through ‘smallpdf’ or pack it into a ZIP folder.
Present your material
The next step is to add a title, description and tags to your material. The title is very important for buyers' searches. So think about which keywords describe your material briefly and concisely. A good material description which offers important information and relevant keywords around your material is also very important in order to gain visibility.
What are tags? What keywords do I need to enter for my material?
You can use keywords (also known as ‘tags’ or ‘hashtags’) to precisely assign your material to a specific subject area so that teachers can find it more easily. There is no right or wrong way to do this: you can enter information about the subject, methodology, type of task, target group, etc. You also have the option of entering keywords that you cannot find in ‘Material type’ or in the categories in connection with the subject categorisation. You enter the keywords in the ‘Basic information’ section in the ‘Tags’ field (optional).
Set a price
In the next step, you can decide whether your material should be available free of charge or at a price. This is entirely up to you. It is worth measuring your own amount of work as well as teacher salaries in your country to determine your price.
Determine the preview of the material
In the penultimate step, you can determine how your material should be presented on eduki or how much should be revealed before the purchase. You can upload a cover or select one from your file and further down you can provide your customers with the number of pages of the material. If you have uploaded several files, you can determine (by ticking the box) which files may be displayed in the preview. You can also make individual pages of your material slightly unrecognisable for the preview. This is called ‘blurring’. After each uploaded file, you can specify under ‘Blurring from’ which page should be ‘blurred’.
What dimensions does an attractive cover need for my material?
We recommend a resolution (DIN A4) = 595 x 842 at 72dpi for the optimum cover page or cover image for your digital material.
By the way, all pages of your material (except the bibliography) automatically receive a watermark at eduki when your material is online. In the Cabinet under ‘Upload and edit material’ you will also find the option to have this watermark added to all your cover pages. Simply tick the box.
Name your sources
In the last step of the material upload, you will be asked to name your sources for clipart, fonts, etc. for your material. Here you have the option of selecting your own source list within the material or using our source list generator.
