What is a bundle and how do I create one?
Bundles are material packages that you can put together from individual and already uploaded materials.
Please note the following rules:
- A material bundle cannot be part of a material bundle!
- A material can only be part of a bundle if it is also available online as individual material. It is therefore not possible to add an exclusive material that is only available in the package.
- A material package requires at least one priced material. It is therefore not possible to create a material bundle from only free materials.
- In addition, the price of a bundle cannot be higher than the sum of the individual materials it contains.
For a material bundle, select the ‘Create material bundle’ button after clicking on ‘Share material’. You will then be shown a list of all your materials (in descending order by ID). Here you can select which individual materials should be part of the material pack. Simply click on them! Click ‘Next’ to go to the next step, to the usual view where you can add a title and description. After entering the ‘Basic information’, you can set the price. Please note that the package may not be more expensive than the sum of the individual materials. In the last step, you can add a cover as usual.
Please note: If you upload a new cover, it must be a JPEG or PNG file. Unfortunately, a PDF will not work. Finally, please click on ‘Publish’. By the way: In our shop it is displayed if a single material is part of a material package.
How can I edit a bundle afterwards?
If an individual material, which is also in a bundle, is updated, the associated bundle is also updated. In addition, a corresponding update email will be sent to the customers of the individual material as well as the bundle. Customers who have purchased a bundle once can download a bundle again and again at no extra charge, even if you subsequently add materials and change the price of the bundle. This also applies if your bundle was originally free and is now chargeable, so that customers do not incur any additional charges when they download the updated material.
When deactivating or deleting individual materials that are in bundles, please note that this can deactivate the entire material bundle. A corresponding pop-up window with a warning will then appear. If the material is to be reactivated after deactivation, please note that the deactivated individual material must be automatically removed from the package and a new price must be entered, otherwise the reactivated package will not go online again.
Incidentally, the order of the materials within a bundle cannot be changed, as this is based on the material IDs. This means that the latest material IDs are displayed at the top in the preview of a bundle on the website.
First aid for bundle problems
1) The cover of my bundle cannot be saved?
This is probably due to the file format of the cover: A cover for a material bundle must be uploaded in JPEG or PNG file format, unfortunately other file formats do not work.
2) My material pack is deactivated and I cannot activate it.
There may be the following reasons:
- Price is no longer correct: It is possible that the price of an individual material in your material package has changed (e.g. due to a sale) and the package price is therefore no longer correct. The price of a material package may not exceed the sum of the prices of the materials it contains.
- Example: You have a material package consisting of three materials at €3 each. The sum of the three materials would be €9, but you offer the package for €7.50. Now you temporarily reduce the price of one material in the package and offer it for €1. The total of all materials in the package would now be €7. However, the original package price of €7.50 would exceed this. This error is recognised by the system and the material package is deactivated.
- Solution: You can reactivate the package by clicking on ‘Edit’ and adjusting the material package price.
- Single material deactivated: Your material package has probably been deactivated because a single material has been deactivated or deleted from the package. Pausing an individual material can also trigger the deactivation of a material package under certain circumstances. This is why you will receive a pop-up window with a corresponding warning when you deactivate/pause/delete a material.
- Solution: It is best to check the materials contained in the package for changes! This is how you proceed: Find your material package in the Cabinet and click on the pencil icon to edit it. To remove the deactivated material from the package, find the corresponding ID in the list on the right-hand side and click on remove (see screenshot).
- Before you save the changes, please also check whether the price is correct or needs to be changed. If the price is still correct, then you do not need to change it and the activation should work. Please note, however, that the price CANNOT be adjusted during an eduki sale for technical reasons. If there are any problems, please contact us.
